The lava rock, quarried and carried by horse and wagon from the nearby buttes, then dressed and mortared in place by the pioneers, sets the mood for the important and heroic work now taking place inside
The school was founded in the year 2000 by Matt and Lisa Cardon, who had a dream of giving their four young boys a superior academic education. After painstaking research, Lisa decided upon the renowned Montessori Educational Method. As they developed the curriculum for Jefferson Montessori School, they incorporated religious moral teachings with the core academics.
As school enrollment grew and the school expanded through high school, the Thomas Jefferson Education philosophy was incorporated into the school's methodology. This stellar educational method allows maturing students to transition from Maria Montessori's core education into a statesman's education heavily involving classics and founded upon true principles. The Junior High and High School focus on the five pillars of classical leadership education, which has been the manner of educating leaders and statesmen for centuries.
Combining these two stellar educational methods, Montessori and Jeffersonian, in an environment of faith and morals, mentors will help create faithful, wise leaders. We feel this focus allows us to build on the strong history of those who laid the foundations of this great nation.
