Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Jefferson Montessori Different from public schools?
Public Schools have "No child left behind" focus on "teaching to the tests" that will be given to the students. Our philosophy is to teach each child to study learn, and acquire true knowledge. This subtle shift in focus and purpose makes all the difference in the education of your child
How do students' skills and subject knowledge at Jefferson Montessori compare to students in the public schools?
The skills and knowledge of Jefferson Montessori School students excels greatly when compared to the "conveyor belt" education in public schools. Students here are taught, nurtured, and mentored to deeply reinforce the basic skills and knowledge needed to succeed. They are taught to think, problem solve, and take responsibility for their education and behavior. Students are coached to constantly "beat" their own previous performance, thus fostering real growth. Students here are given the opportunities to succeed in their own education... and are expected to do so.
Is transportation provided to the school?
No. Jefferson Montessori does not currently provide transportation to the school. Car-pooling is available and we will facilitate that for you. We will also assist in finding other options for you, if needed, that are available through established transportation companies.
What kind of financial aid is available?
Currently there is no financial aid available. We support Idaho developing a voucher or tax credit system, and encourage you to voice your support for this to your legislators. Fell free to make an appointment to discuss any financial concerns, and to research options so Jefferson Montessori School can help your child experience positive growth in school.
May my child try a day in the classroom?
Yes. We prefer potential students to come for a day to get to know other students and teachers. This helps to ensure that the school meets the needs and expectations of the student and the parents.
What is the average class size or student to teacher ratio?
Our class sizes vary from year to year, but we maintain as near as possible the following student to teacher ratios:
12:1 Early Childhood center (preschool & kindergarten)
15:1 Grades 1-6
20:1 Grades 7-12
We will maintain the ability to give each child the individualized attention he needs to learn and grown in school.
