Jefferson Montessori employs two distinct and stellar methods of education: the Montessori Method, and the Thomas Jefferson Method.
These two methods are uniquely suited to allow each student reach their highest potential while being mentored individually. We believe that there should be respect for each child and their potential for greatness. They are taught to use their agency wisely, understand and develop self governance, realize that all choices have consequences(good or bad), and to develop a love of learning.
Education is work...but not drudgery. Students are encouraged and inspired to do their very best, and as they move into the upper grades, their mentors will constantly stretch them, teach them to think deeply and solve problems, and help them develop principle-based leadership qualities. Our goal is not for our students to just go get a good job or career, but to be leaders in whatever path they choose in life. Our families, our communities, and our nation, need well trained and principled leaders. That is our overall goal.
We adhere to the highest code of conduct for our staff and our students. This extends from preschool through high school. Our goal is to reinforce the same high level of conduct taught in the home. The LDS book For the Strength of Youth is the basic code of conduct manual for our Jr. High and High School students. This is coupled with securely grounded principles and moral conduct throughout our school.
To become true leaders, religious morals and values must be taught and reinforced throughout academically deep education. In our society, the absence of such an education has produce moderately educated, though generally unprincipled, students who are easily swayed by worldly whims. They have a greater propensity to sacrifice true and correct principles for mis-directed political expediency. True greatness lies in being well grounded in principle, thought, and virtue. Our School addresses all issues and curriculum, conduct and virtue, from an LDS perspective. Each class begins every day with a devotional, prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Adhering to the same moral underpinnings that made our ancestors and America's Founding Fathers great, guides the direction of our school.
